Yesterday we had a group of journalist from Berkley, CA, post graduate program come to the office to interview us about the work of both Lumina and the "Entering Canaan" ministry with the Sisters of Life.
They are touring the country on a "data" road trip…looking at how people use their faith in their private lives.
When they had expressed an interest to do the story, I kept stressing how I did not want them to portray abortion as a religious issue…that is is a human rights issue. Just because people use their faith in their healing, does not make abortion a issue religious.
Case in point, my faith got me through a tough marriage, my moms Alzhiemers , single parenthood and my abortion…yet no one calls Alzhiemers, or single parenthood a religious issue, so why does abortion always get labeled as one?
Anyway, the interview seemed to go well…they interviewed Sr Loretto Michael, SV and myself. It was a very professional team of Toni, Jeremy and Joelle..hopefully they will show what we said and not edit it to make it something it was not.
At the end of the interview Toni shared that she knew women who were post abortive, and it was "just as you said". The interview was worth it just for that.
At some point, you will be able to view it here http://newsinitiative.org/ucb/data-road-trip
Right now they only have a comment up….
