Today w e hear about prophets who were not recognized in
their own towns. Although I obviously do not think post abortive women are prophets in the same sense, I do
believe that many times,  no one really  hears their voice in the abortion issue,
although that has been changing with ministries like Silent no More and Operation
Outcry

Although it has gotten much better and continues to improve,
but many times, pro choice people are busy trying to keep abortion legal at any
expense, and the pro life people seem to focus on the unborn, when in fact, we
never can separate the two. If post abortive people do speak, one side seems to
focus only on how abortion was good, the other sometimes wants them to speak only
so they can say how bad it was. Neither, at times, seem very concerned with the
soul of the person who is speaking. We all tend to lean towards our own
agendas.

I have always been of the mindset that God not only wants to
protect the unborn, but he also wants to reclaim the souls of those who
participate in abortion. Souls that belong to Him and whom He loves. I believe
if we listen and minister to them for no other reason than that they are children of God, who need
reconciliation and healing, He will take care of all the rest. I believe
through them abortion will end. As Dave Reardon says, “who better to speak for
the unborn than their mothers”.

Today's readings speak of the leper Naaman.Whenever I read about lepers, I associate it with the
feelings I had surrounding my abortion. I never felt like I quite belonged
anywhere. I felt like a leper because I had participated in the death of my own
child.  Judgment seemed to be everywhere
and I always felt caught in the middle of the debate.

Through the grace of God, post abortive men and women are
getting their own voice. May we never look to our own agendas, but always look
to the will o f God and what He is asking of each of us. May we never exploit
anyone for “numbers” or what we want to happen but may we lead each soul back
into the arms of Mary, who always leads us on the steady path to her son who wants to heal the "lepers".
