Suffering is not our enemy

Some last thought on Fr Michael…
The past three days spent at the wake and masses for Fr Michael…yesterday the funeral mass.
I have known father for over 20 years and he has always touched my heart as I have known he was close to the heart of Jesus.
I learned over the past few days that he touched countless hearts as I saw the churches fill up to celebrate his life, and his priesthood .
Father Michael accepted his suffering. He did not consider cancer his enemy but instead as a vehicle to grow in grace and closer to Christ. Each day he offered his sufferings for vocations, others with cancer, and the unborn. If he even murmured a word of what could be considered a complaint in his suffering, he quickly followed it with an apology and thanks to God for his blessings.
I am convinced I was blessed to know a saint strong in virtues…I do not believe I will suffer again or be prideful without thinking of Fr Michael and his example. At least I hope not, and with his help and intercession, I pray I can serve Christ as he did.
If you are suffering from a past abortion or anything, pray to him…I have no doubt we have a strong advocate in heaven, may we like Fr Michael learn that our suffering is not our enemy but a means to draw closer to Christ.
