Eternal Salvation (Lent 32)

Son though he was, he
learned obedience from what he suffered;
and when he was made perfect,
he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.

Pretty profound, that Jesus Himself had to learn obedience
in Hi s human nature, from what he suffered, so that He could be the source of
eternal salvation for us..Today’s readings confront us with the suffering of
Jesus and the call to die to ourselves by following Him. Dying to our will s is
not easy, it is often painful and requires great purification, but we are
promised “eternal” salvation of we obey Him.

 I think we tend to
forget about eternal salvation on a day to day basis. We tend to think of our
lives from a very earthly viewpoint. The next time I want to do things my way
instead of His, I pray I remember of eternal salvation. Chances are, whatever
it is I am stuck on doing is not worth the price of risking that!
