Such is the heading of a news article regarding Gov. Tim Kaine's  decision to sign legislation allowing
the sale of specialty license plates that will fund "antiabortion-rights"
crisis pregnancy centers.

Why are pregnancy centers referred to as "antiabortion rights" centers?  why does it upset the pro abortion lobby so much that these plates will be in use? If they truly want a woman to be able to make her own choice, why does the choice of life disturb them so? Why wouldn't they want the help to be available to her to support her pregnancy and child?

I cannot help but think of it in the terms of the Pharisees when it came to Jesus. Why did it upset them so much that He was performing miracles? Doing good things for the people? Why would they want to condemn Him to death for that? Healing people, raising from the dead preaching peace and self giving?

We in our day are not much different are we? Jesus interferes with their agenda…He threatens our egos, our "self". In a society where more and are are becoming absorbed in the "me" of things, Jesus ( and  even the license plates) calls us to look at the other. To self sacrifice. To giving until it hurts.

It took courage for Gov Kaine to sign the legislation, it takes courage to do what is right a lot of times. Let us pray for the courage to stand up for what is right even if it hurts.
