Monday Holy week

"Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil
made from genuine aromatic nard
and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair;"

Unlike the woman who was about to be stoned who was filled with shame, the woman who washes Jesus feet is Christ centered

    • She knows she has sinned
    • She knows what she has done is
wrong but she has hope in Jesus
    • She knows He loves her has given
her forgiveness and a new life
    • She knows she cannot make up for
her sin but most importantly she knows she does not have to
    • She knows (and is not surprised)
by the realization that she is capable of any sin

She goes to the dinner uninvited, scorned but does not
care because her focus is Christ centered

an act of great humility!

Humility…is
the truth about ourselves. When we honestly look at the truth about ourselves
in the light of Gods love in relation to our abortions, we become humble before
Him instead of defensive. It is then that we are able to receive His grace.

Humility asks
us to let go of

  • Our false securities- our pride

  • Calls us to change
  • To let go of sin
  • Prayer

 Before I
lived my life defensive and unsure. Now I live my life with confidence because
my confidence is in Jesus not me!!!

 PJPII says to
us in the Gospel of Life that we should look at what happened with our abortions and face it
honestly, it was and always will be terribly wrong. But he also says to look at
the many influences and to come to know the Father of Mercies and the wound in
your heart can heal.

 By
acknowledging what we did we are free to ask forgiveness from God, our children
and ourselves

With humility
comes trust in God and His promises, a little at a time…it is not about feeling
but about action…it is o.k.

He
understands if we are afraid

Trust in His
love that saves and heals us

Trust in his
love that drives out fear, shame and guilt and brings peace

 Humility is a
deep acknowledgment that without God we are all capable of any sin, and that it
is Him and His love and mercy alone that brings us out of the darkness. That of
ourselves we are nothing, but through Him all good things come. If we truly
believe this, there is no place for shame for we would know that each and every
one of us, no matter what the sin, is saved only through the grace of God. Our
sinfulness would not surprise us, but instead humble us more by knowing our
need for dependence on Him and giving Him all the glory for any good we do. If
we do this, the brilliance of the light of His glory will surely outshine our
shame leaving us gazing at the goodness of the Lord instead of ourselves.
