Ever feel like you are attacked by the "gates of hell"? I do. I remember during my healing often feeling like I was standing on the brink…the depths of despair. It took all I could do to hang on, sometimes by a thread.

To this day I can still feel like that, maybe not in relation to my abortion, but there are still days when I feel a storm raging inside of me. The difference between then and now, is before my healing, I would isolate. I would close myself in my room and listen to the promptings of the devil who would tell me over and over again how terrible I was. How unworthy of mercy, and that I was doomed to hell. I was blessed to have people around me that helped to get through those times even though I wanted to isolate. They were a sign of Gods love and mercy for me.

Now if I find myself in that state of mind, I pick up the phone to speak to a friend, or go see my spiritual director or someone else I know will help me to get through the storm right away. I do not allow the devil to isolate me, and my desire for isolation has become a sure sign of my need to reach out.

You are not alone any more…there are a lot of post abortive women and men who have fought the good fight and are able and willing to help you.
