Stuck in the Middle

I have to admit that there are times when I still feel stuck in the middle of the abortion debate. Never with whether abortion is right or not, I know it is wrong and always will feel that way, but stuck in the middle in the respect of how I feel with both the pro life side and pro choice sides of the issue.

The pro choice side enshrines abortion at any cost and I never feel as though they truly care for women. If they did, they would be as concerned about the safety of women from legal abortion as illegal abortion. Of course, they would say that is why they want it legal, yet women are still injured and die and I never hear them speaking out about that. They fight legislation to inform women of all of abortions dangers, and they do nothing when we learn of abortionists who exploit and even sexually abuse those who go to them. So, aside from the fact that abortion is just wrong, I do not believe their concern for women is even justified…

The pro life side still does not seem to get it either although it has improved. I can still see where women would find them self righteous. I also still find it offensive that they say they "save" babies…I could not even save my own baby and countess women walking into clinics feel the same way. It seems they still have no idea of the pressures many women face. I know they are good intentioned, and no pressure justifies abortion, but it still makes me squirm when I hear many of them.
I also have a hard time when I attend masses or vigils where post abortive people are not even mentioned. At this stage of the game we all know someone who is suffering from a past abortion…no matter what the reasons, they also are souls God wants to save and I would pray His mercy was offered to them.

Don't get me wrong…these are good people, many of whom I love, but it tears at my heart when I do not see an outreach knowing how many are alienated from the church and are just waiting for a word of hope.

Today's gospel was "judge not, least you be judged"…there but for the grace of God go any of us..pro choice, pro life or post abortive…we are all capable of anything. We all have our failings and we all fall short of Gods glory…may each one of us, no matter what our views, pray for the grace of God to act according to His will…we cannot loose if we do that.
