Reclaiming Our Children: A Blog About Healing After Abortion

As you know part of my time away was for my personal retreat which I attended with The Families of Nazareth Movement http://www.familiesofnazareth.us/ in Santa Barbara, CA at the Old Mission http://santabarbaramission.org/ .

We were blessed to have 4 priests direct the retreat including the North American Spiritual leader of the movement, Rev Jarek Zaniewski.

I will try to share some thoughts that impacted me over the next few days..here is the first, said by Fr Jarek:

"We need, not a quick fix, but the crucifix"

So often, as post abortive people we want to find a quick way out of the pain .
We want healing NOW.

In truth, healing is a crucifixion. A dying to ourselves and our ways in order to live with Christ and allow HIs healing love to transform us. Knowing Christs love gives us the courage to look at ourselves so we can understand what happened regarding our abortion decision.
We need to look at the "truth" of our sinfulness and well as the "truth" of God's great love for us.
It is only in the light of this tremendous love that we have the courage to change…
