A letter wrote that was in Gannett Papers this past weekend. I wrote it in response to an article stating how Karin Wompa, running for the Westchester Board of Legislators was upset for being called "anti-choice".
var numDivs ="1";if (GDN.Cookie.Exists("GCIONSN") ) { var GPCookie = GDN.Cookie.Get('GCIONSN'); var GPvalueEncData= GDN.Base64.Decode(GPCookie); var GPvalueDecData= GPvalueEncData.match(/GPvalue:([\w\@\.\-\%\|]+)/i); if(PaginationArticleCookie != PaginationArticleUrl || GPvalueDecData == null || GPvalueDecData[1] == 'undefined' || typeof(GPvalueDecData[0]) == 'undefined') { var saxoNextPage = "909190311%7C2%7C1"; var saxoPreviousPage = "909190311%7C1%7C1"; } } else { var saxoNextPage = "909190311%7C2%7C1"; var saxoPreviousPage = "909190311%7C1%7C1"; }
As someone who sees at least 200 women every year who are suffering from a
past abortion, I could not believe you found the Sept. 11 article,
"County legislature candidate says group mischaracterizing her abortion
position," newsworthy, as if being pro-life were a terrible thing.
What
all of these articles fail to mention is exactly what the "choice" is:
the killing of an unborn baby in the womb. They also fail to mention
how more and more women are stepping forward to proclaim suffering they
experience as a result of abortion.
When
did we become a society that holding life as sacred is being
"anti-choice" and something you should be ashamed of? When did we
graduate to denying the pain of those who suffer from a past abortion ,
as if it is unacceptable to suffer because you killed your own child?
As
a post-abortive woman, and as someone who works with other
post-abortive women every day, I have to tell Karin Wompa (8th District
candidate for the Westchester Board of Legislators) that it's too bad
that she was distressed at the label given her; she would have had a
lot of women on her side and our voices are growing stronger with each
day, as more and more seek healing and speak out.
