Have not heard a word from the pro abortion women's groups that claim to be concerned for women. As horrific as this is, why would this kid respect human life when our laws don't…my heart breaks for the kids today who live in a world where life is disposable…so sad…

HOLLIDAYSBURG
– A Williamsburg-area teen who tried to abort his girlfriend's
pregnancy last year by giving her a bottle of Gatorade laced with a
drug meant for cows entered guilty pleas Tuesday in juvenile court to
charges of attempted third-degree murder and aggravated assault.
District Attorney Richard A. Consiglio said he wants the 17-year-old boy kept under court supervision until he is 21 years old.
"We consider this a terrible, terrible crime," Assistant District Attorney Derek Elensky said.
The
teen's attorney, Theodore Krol, said his client is willing to accept
the consequences for his actions. He said, however, that by calling for
a stiff sentence for the boy, prosecutors were ignoring the purpose of
juvenile court, which is to rehabilitate the youngster as opposed to
imposing punishment.
Krol said his client was a scared
then-16-year-old kid who didn't know what to do upon finding out his
girlfriend was pregnant, so he turned to a "buddy" and an adult for
advice.
The trio came up with the idea of aborting the baby by
using ProstaMate, a drug used to bring a cow into heat or abort a
fetus, and administered it to the girl in March 2008.
"He is a
kid who fishes out in the woods … goes to school, does not get into
trouble," Krol said. "He is immature in his thinking. It's not an adult
offense."
Blair County President Judge Jolene G. Kopriva
concluded the first step is to find out if he was just a scared boy who
committed a "despicable act" or a young man with severe problems.
"The question is why, and what can we do so these things don't happen again," Kopriva told the boy.
She ordered that he be sent for evaluation to a home in Latrobe operated by Adelphoi Village.
The
boy's buddy, who also was 16 at the time of the crime, entered a guilty
plea to aggravated assault. He will spend 45 days in Adelphoi Village's
Hilltop Home near Hollidaysburg.
That boy expressed regret at
what occurred. He told the judge he was "humiliated" by the experience
and dropped out of school after his arrest. He will take GED classes at
Hilltop.
Jonathan Keith Imler Sr., 47, of Williamsburg, the adult
who was arrested and charged with attempted criminal homicide, simple
assault, recklessly endangering another person, theft and corruption of
minors for stealing the drug and a syringe from a Williamsburg area
farm, is awaiting trial, Consiglio said.
The victim wrote a
statement that was read to Kopriva by state Trooper Charles Aungst. In
it, she said when she found out she had been administered "poison," she
was terrified by the uncertainty as to what would happen to her baby.
She said she was fortunate the attempt to kill her baby, who is now 1-year-old and healthy, failed.
"How could someone do something so cruel against an unborn baby?" she asked.
The
child's grandmother pointed out how deliberate the crime was. The
boyfriend used a syringe to spike a small bottle of Gatorade and kept
urging the girl to drink it while they were attending classes at
Williamsburg Community High School.
"Our lives will never be the same," the grandmother said.
Aungst said the FBI confirmed the Gatorade contained ProstaMate.
Consiglio said the drug was sufficiently diluted in the Gatorade, so it caused no apparent damage to the baby or the mother.
He
said in a more concentrated form, however, death could have resulted to
both the mother and the unborn baby and Imler and the teens would have
been facing murder charges.
