It was painted by Rosemarie Mertz, a wonderful woman from California who is part of the "Families of Nazareth Movement". http://www.familiesofnazareth.us/ When I spoke for them a few years ago I was blessed with a framed painting of the image which I lovingly have in my home…Our Lady's words to Juan Diego are one of my favorites as well, as Mary keeps us safely beneath her mantle and leads us always to her Son.
