Saturday went without a glitch…it was a beautiful way to start the week of the March for Life, interceding in prayer. First and foremost I want to thank The Sisters of Life for always listening to my ideas and helping to make them a reality, especially Sr Lucy, who has been my partner in crime in pro life work since way before the Sisters were formed!
Bishop Dolan gave a great intro on the importance of prayer in ending abortion, and Fr Stewart's talks were as wonderful as always, one on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and God's mercy, (my favorite topic). The Sisters of Life brought a little bit of heaven to earth with their schola, which was beautiful as always..thank you Sr Concepta!
All the volunteers did a phenomenal job reading their parts and all who attended were greatly moved. Praise God as always! May God bless the one in DC at the Basilica this coming Thursday as much as He did this one! If you want to watch the service, it will be broadcast on NET TV on Friday, January 22nd…check here for the details:http://netny.net/
It was also wonderful to be able to go down to the crypt and say a prayer to Cardinal O'Connor with Sister Lucy, SV, before we began the service, and extra special because Pierre Toussaint is also buried in the crypt… Pierre was born into slavery in Haiti and moved to NY with his plantation owner. There he worked as a hairdresser and bought his freedom. He gave away much of his money to secure the freedom of other slaves and always gave to the poor. He is in the process of canonization and is buried along with Cardinal O'Connor in the crypt under the main altar at St Patrick's. Pray to him for the people of Haiti! You can read more about him here. http://www.toussaintacademy.org/pierretoussaint.html
Our volunteers for the service…John, James, Fran, Patty , MAry, Mary Beth, Judy, George & Fr George Thank YOU!
