And that is exactly what the pro abortion fraction would like us to do! They are going nuts because those of us who are post abortive and did not find the experience wonderful, but in fact, found we had been lied to, hurt and then our feelings denied, are speaking out.
We are called anti woman, and even told we instill guilt and shame (as if an abortion itself could not possibly do that!)
They shouted at us at Columbia University last week as we did a Silent No More" http://www.silentnomoreawareness.org/. We were told to "get off of my campus, "we do not want to hear you".
Tomorrow they are rallying against the "Abortion changes You" ads in the NY city subway system, as if there were no way abortion could change you.http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/reader-diaries/2010/04/13/protest-abortionchangesyoucom-coming-saturday
Now Exhale, the pro abortion post abortion agency that calls itself "pro voice" has a problem with "Abortion Recovery Month" .http://exhaleisprovoice.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/exhale-declares-april-is-abortion-wellbeing-month/ Instead, Aspen Baker, executive director, has declared April, "Abortion well being Month".
"So, this month, instead of acknowledging abortion as an experience that
can only be recognized as a sickness or illness from which women need
to 'recover', it's immeasurably more helpful to women to talk about
abortion without stigma or judgment, to promote emotional strength and
wellbeing, so all women are supported in the way they need."
What, no one has said abortion is an illness, but wait, aren't you the ones who say it is a women's health issue? No one has also said Aspen, that women cannot "experience" abortion differently, but I do have to wonder, if you are so pro woman, why you will not allow us to voice our experience so that others who feel like us can come forward for help in the way they "chose".
Perhaps your goal of removing the stigma of abortion, or an article like the one in your last publication "A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Clinic" ",http://www.ourtruths.org/magazines/OurTruths-NuestrasVerdades-Winter2009.pdf (the last thing I felt was humor when I saw my dead son laying on the bed next to me) do not resonate with all women.
You claim to "believe in building connections and understanding diverse abortion experiences". I would love that..why don't you give me a call, I have a feeling we would have a lot to talk about.
