Reconnecting

This past weekend I reconnected with a friend of mine from
high school. If you have heard my abortion story she is the person who picked
me up from my parents house when they threw me out upon learning I was
pregnant. I guess you would call her an abortion connector!

We’d lost touch over the years, so it was nice to catch up
with her. It was also weird to be with someone who knew me in the day, knew everything about my abortion experience and be
able to share with her my journey of healing and what I am doing now.

I am so grateful for the work that I do and for what God‘s
done in my life, but I also recognize how that one act chartered my entire life.  Of course, there were years when I was not
aware of the impact it was having on my life, but looking back I see so many
decisions and events were impacted by the way my abortion left me feeling.

I find it hard to believe that it does not impact some
women. How can you take the life of your child and not have it impact you? If
it is true that it does not impact some, I have to say I am glad I am not one
of them.

The difference of course, between then and now it that it
use to impact me in a negative way, no self esteem, depression, poor choices
etc, but God has changed my worse sin and brought something good out of it and it has become a positive through the work I do. After my healing I knew I was being called to let others suffering know of His great love and mercy and that He was just waiting to heal them!

It was wonderful to see my friend and share and remember, not in sadness but in the joy of knowing the countless blessing in my life. Praise God!
