Reclaiming Our Children: A Blog About Healing After Abortion

The concept of showing the far reaching implications of abortion are not new. Years ago(1998), before most of us were even able to speak for ourselves because of the shame and guilt of abortion, Dave Reardon showed it in The Elliot Institute paper "Hope & Healing" which addresses the impact of abortion on many people and the sorrow many have. In fact, depending on who the priest is and if he has written his own testimony, when we do our "Morning of Prayerful Remembrance" service, they often use the statement by the priest from Hope & Healing

I remember when Dave created this paper …he sent it to me preprint to read and I remember saying to him.."ok, it's great in showing the harm of abortion, but, where is the hope?" to which he replied " Give it to me". And so, I wrote "To Those who Mourn", an open letter to those suffering because of a past abortion. Since that time it has been used many places, including our pamphlet for our Entering Canaan retreats.

I will be forever grateful to Dave for speaking out when we could not…for his tireless efforts(and that includes Amy Sobie as well) to bring the truth of abortion to the forefront..I truly believe if it were not for the insight that God gave him way before the rest of us knew what was going on, post abortion healing would not be where it is today…so, thank you Dave and Amy! And many blessings for all your hard work and sacrifice!
