When I read articles like this one, amazingly I still get shocked. Abortion has become a god. They obviously, even in this horrific case, care more about abortion than about the woman it kills….
"their tactic is to burden the practice of abortion to such an extent that women cannot exercise their right as a practical matter." oh really? why don't you tell that to the families of the women and babies who died at this house of horrors. It seems to be your concernshoul dbe with the health of all women and if it were you would be all the more happy to ensure that this kind of thing never happens again…amazing…and very sad that abortion is now enshrined above the safety and lives of women!
Phony response: The Pa. House uses a clinic tragedy to hurt women
The subject of abortion does not often give rise to agreement on all sides. But the grand jury report earlier this year that brought indictments against Dr. Kermit Gosnell and nine other employees at a Philadelphia abortion clinic was widely seen as a gruesome tragedy demanding action.
Action came and was applauded. In February, Gov. Tom Corbett demanded accountability and change. State employees deemed culpable for the laxness that led to the abuses in Philadelphia resigned or were terminated.
Mr. Corbett also ordered new rules affecting the departments of health and state, including insistence on inspections for all abortion facilities annually and additional random inspections, some on weekends and evenings. We commended the governor's actions as a "sincere effort to protect the health and safety of women …"
That was then. This is now: The Legislature has weighed in, using the backlash against the horrors at the Philadelphia clinic as a way to limit a constitutional right of women. Their vehicle is House Bill 574, which passed the chamber Wednesday on a vote of 148-43.
