Fordham Prof. Defends Late-Term Abortionist Tiller As “Compassionate.”
A professor at a Catholic college, who also sits on the board of a pro-abortion rights organization, described late term abortionist George Tiller as “compassionate” and said she believed working at a Catholic institution as well as a pro-abortion rights organization is “consistent.”
Fordham University Sociology Professor Jeanne Flavin, who moonlights as President of the Board of the National Advocates for Pregnant Women, an organization committed to “advancing reproductive and human rights for all women and families” wrote a piece in which she defended late term abortionist George Tiller as “compassionate.”
In Footnotes, a publication of the American Sociological Association, Flavin wrote that she believed late term abortionist George Tiller delivered “compassionate” care.
I grew up on a farm in rural Kansas approximately 130 miles from where Dr. George Tiller, a late-term abortion provider, was murdered. I respect the need for the services he and his colleagues compassionately provided, as well as the gap in services left by his death and the closing of his clinic. My position is at odds with that of many people, including members of my family and people with whom I grew up.

This was my posted response to the Cardinal Newman Society blog:
Having met with couples who went to Tiller after an adverse diagnosis I can assure you he was anything but compassionate.
Unfortunately, the medical community pressures the termination of adverse diagnosis most often not giving these couples time to pray and reflect. Also, sadly, even those who sought counsel from the clergy often are told it is fine to end the pregnancy. Totally false compassion. It is heartbreaking.
Once Tiller killed a baby, he would “baptize” it, dress it up in white and place it in the parents arms for pictures. I have personally seen the pictures.
Here are 2 testimonies from couples who went to Tiller…

As you can imagine, the healing from this is very painful..please keep the couples who experienced his “compassion” in your prayers. Perhaps Professor Flavin should speak to them.
