Ok, so here we are in the middle of January, the month of the passage of the Supreme Court decision of Roe vs Wade which made aboriton legal. As if that were not enough to bring post abortive connectors to the forefront, like in elections past, abortion is one of the top social issues in the battle for the presidency. For something that was suppose to be settled 39 years ago, it is all to plain to see the issue is far from being settled.
Having been involved in this work for over 20 years it is interesting to see how the landscape has changed. From a blob of tissue we pretty much have now admitted that it is an unborn human in the womb. Sadly, it does not seem to sway a lot of people who cling to the fact that they just want to be able to terminate a pregnancy, or as they say "unwanted" child.
In truth, our government has sanctioned killing, and we have become so cold hearted about it that comedians like Colbert see nothing wrong with joking about gruesome partial birth abortion. I can bet that those who have had them, even people who think aboriton is ok, see nothing funny about his humor.
I truly hope that whoever wins the nomination uses those of us who are post abortive and have gone public, in their campagin ads. Imagine a candidate speaking abut abortion with post abortive people behind him holding signs and speaking out about abortion harms. I know that there would be millions of women and men, sitting on their couches who would all too readily relate to the damage abortion has done to their lives. In fact, what a fantastic opportunity this would be to reach those wounded and alone in their feelings.
In the end, I believe it is those of us who have been there that will expose the real truth of abortion. No one can argue with what we have experienced ,and the fact that some feel abortion did not hurt them does not change the harm of abortion to millions of people.
