Graphic Images ?

003
Ok, so, today I found myself doing something I usually do not do, I found myself commenting on a blog post on Jill Staneks site about a Jumbotron video of graphic abortion images that will be shown at the March for Life . (WARNING-VERY GRAPHIC, I coul dnot even watch it all) The consensus in the comments seems to be that it is a good thing. I totally disagree.

First of all, the people there are already pro life…it is the "March for Life", so why do they need to see what they already know.

Most of all I know that countless people there are post abortive and for some this would send them into despair. In fact I have already gotten emails from people who just saw it on there and I have received countless calls over the years from post abortive people who saw pictures of abortion at the March. Just hearing about the March is difficult for many.  For people who often already feel unforgivable and are in despair, it is enough to throw them over the edge. What about their souls and their lives? There is nmore than one way to abort someone.

One of the comments on the blog said most post abortive people are ok with this. I totally disagree. I am not saying these should not be used anywhere. I totally think they have a place, but not in the public square where those who may not know the love of God yet and are already struggling may see it, or where small children who would have their innocence taken away, and will then have nightmares because of them. who are they to make these decisions fo reveryone? Would you want your child to see a head blown off, or another form of violence..of course not,. We want to preserve their innocence. So why is it ok with this?

Many post abortive people desire acceptance so much they go along with things because they feel they have no rights because of what they have done. That is wrong. We are all children of God with dignity. He desires the healing and reconciliation of all. He loves the people who aborted and children as much as he loves aborted babies.

In a situation teaching about abortion these are powerful tools, but to thrust it on everyone with no regard or warning is irresponsible and self righteous. We are all sinners in need of His mercy. Some of us have different sins. Would anyone want their sins thrust in their face in the public square? Is this any different thanthe men who dragged out the woman caught in adultery? Jesus does not work that way. He did not shove her sins in the face of the sinful woman, or the Samaritan woman or any other great sinner He met. He did not  show her her sins, she knew very well what they were.Instead, He lowered His eyes and wroteint he sand so she would not feel ashamed…He converted her with love.

Some may say this is not just for post abortive people but the truth is countless numbers of them will be there as well a countless numbers of children.

Personally, I am glad I know I am a sinner. I am glad I know it is only through His grace and love that I am saved. I pray I would never presume to think I  know what others need to convert or that there was any sin I was not capable of. Without His grace we are all capable of anything and anything we do not do is only because of that grace.  I pray I always lead those who come to us to Him, the only one who saves, converts ,changes hearts and can end abortion.

I agree, I don’t think most post-abortive mothers are “okay” with it. And I don’t think even the majority of most pro-life people are “okay” with it. Unfortunately, we have allowed those who feel otherwise to speak for us and allow them to assume positions of leadership. Not sure what to do about it, but I hope that post abortive men and women understand that the vast majority of us would like to move forward with positive messages and images – and that they are integral to that kind of messaging.

Well said, Theresa. I would not want my children to see these photos. I am not planning on going this year, but I have to say I would probably choose not to bring my young children if they would be exposed to that. Also, I would be devastated thinking of those babies in the pictures. I suppose that’s the point, but those babies shouldn’t be plastered on billboards or vidoe screens- it’s just not right. Most of all, I agree with what you’re saying about those who are post abortive.
