Lately, your head may be reeling from all the talk of abortion in the news. You cannot get away from it! Whether it is the candidates speaking, talks of Obama Care, Susan Komen defunding Planned Parenthood ,legislation in different states or the everyday reports of harm to women or other happenings. It can become totally overwhelming, especially for those who are suffering because of a past abortion.
It can be enough to enrage some, or to send others into their room to hide under the covers. The storm is raging and you may feel like you are drowning. It is difficult not to get tossed around by the waves and the victories and loses of the battle. Anxiety and stress can reach their peak and some may want nothing but to escape from anything having to do with abortion. Still others may rush into battle with no preparation.
The important thing to remember is to keep our eyes on Jesus in the midst of the storm. While it is important to do what we each can according to our means, it is also important to know in the end that legislation will change with each new administration, and laws will come and go, but Jesus is the only one who is steadfast and can end abortion. No lay person, no movement, no priest, nothing but God, who in HIs love and mercy calls us back to HImself, and heals us.
So, when you are feeling overwhelmed, remember, it is all in His hands. Fight the good fight but never without keeping your eyes on HIm, trusting in His love for you and that He knows better than we do what we each need. He will not disappoint you. Spend time in prayer daily confirming your trust in Him in spite of anything you may "feel". Reach out to those who can help you through, and remember, He is there, holding HIs hand out to us in the midst of the storms of abortion.
Jesus, we trust in You!
