Reclaiming Our Children: A Blog About Healing After Abortion

Went up to Stockbrdige , MA to the Divine Mercy Shrine. Been a while since I have been up there but so peaceful and beautiful. I love the place…it is definitely my pilgrimage of major gratitude. Took a picture of this plaque which definitely fits todays meditation from 2009…

Therefore, I teach you the statutes and decrees
as the LORD, my God, has commanded me,
that you may observe them in the land you are entering to occupy.
Observe them carefully, for thus will you give evidence
of your wisdom and intelligence to the nations,
who will hear of all these statutes and say,
'This great nation is truly a wise and intelligent people.'
For what great nation is there that has gods so close to it as the LORD, our God, is to us
whenever we call upon him? Or what great nation has statutes and decrees
that are as just as this whole law which I am setting before you today?

"However, take care and be earnestly on your guard
not to forget the things which your own eyes have seen,
nor let them slip from your memory as long as you live,
but teach them to your children and to your children's children."

I would be lying if I said I was not disturbed about all that has been going on in our country regarding the issue of life since the new administration began.

It seems life is attacked on every level. Key positions are occupied by extreme pro abortion people whose agenda is to pro mote abortion. Laws have been overturned even forcing us to pay for abortions abroad with our tax dollars. The conscience clause is in the beginning stages of being rescinded forcing doctors to perform abortions against their beliefs. It is truly amazing that our country is adopting these policies. So much for “free choice”.

Embryonic stem research is being funded and promoted while adult stem cells are being abandoned even though they are the only ones who have showed hope. God knows what a “business” this will turn into causing the destruction of more of the unborn. Restrictions to abortion are being taken away and no laws are being passed to tell women the truth of abortion or even recognize post abortion stress.

Are we letting “slip” from our memory the statues and decrees of God? It certainly appears to be so.

Now, more and more unborn will die, more and more women, men, siblings etc will suffer because of abortion worldwide because of our policies. The dignity of the human person is attacked.

We can despair, but we are called to remember, the dignity of Jesus was attacked as well, but He reminds us His kingdom “is not of this world”. We are pilgrims on a journey to heaven, called to follow in the footsteps to Christ. We are called to “hope” and we can hold on to hope because “our hope is in the Lord”. We can live without fear because we trust in His mercy and love and the power of His passion, death and resurrection.

“Be not afraid”. These words were given to us by Pope John Paul II. I repeat them often lately, they are a reminder to me life triumphs in the end.
