It has been a long time since I wrote the poem below on self forgiveness. In fact, it has been about 25 years! It is hard to imagine where God has brought me since then.
This coming Sunday I will be honored at the Bridge to Life Gala …for our post abortive work. As I am praying and preparing to write a short talk to give on that day, I cannot help but become overwhelmed at Gods goodness, not only to me, but to the many people God has allowed us to serve.
Watching it all unfold, from my relationship to Cardinal O’Connor to the founding of the Sisters of Life and the beginnings of “Entering Canaan”, and on to the work developed with the Frairs of the Renewal, I am in awe of how he can turn our worse sins into a means for His grace.
As we continue to celebrate this Easter season, I have every confidence He is working in each of your lives to bring you to His Merciful heart and a life full of joy.
Many blessings!
Self Forgiveness
I need to learn my Lord to be
The person that’s inside of me
To accept it all…from inside out
To cherish what I’m all about
To know that through life’s walking days
I’m trying Lord to learn your ways
And if I falter on my way
Your love will always with me stay
And if you can still love me when
I fall and fall, time and again
Then love myself I must God too,
For to love myself is to trust in you.
So, though at times it is hard to see
The beauty that’s inside of me
I know that if you love me still
To love myself must be your will.
