Forced abortion is not a choice

"Forced abortion is not a choice," Littlejohn said. "It is official government rape."

All over the news we are rightfully reading about the forced abortion policies in China. There is outrage, as it should be, but here in the United States we too have forced abortions. Maybe not by the government, but certainly by others.  Here is an article from CNN that should leave any heart touched http://edition.cnn.com/2012/04/30/world/asia/china-forced-abortions/index.html?hpt=wo_c2

What strikes me, besides the obvious and the compassion for the women in China, is the blindness to the abortions in our own country. To the disassociation by the media and others regarding women being forced to abort here in the United States by husbands, by parents and by boyfriends and by the numbers of violent acts and murdered women who refused to abort.

I must admit I also cringed when reading about the babies being left to die when born alive from abortion, but it is no secret that it has happened here as well, that is why the Born Alive Infant Act which (Obama opposed) was passed. As for seeing aborted babies, I know too well what that is like seeing my dead aborted son laying in the bed next to me following a saline abortion.

My heart truly goes out to the women in China who are subjected to abortion upon abortion and I am sure experience unmeasurable pain and grief. It must be stopped, but I also think we need to look in our own backyard to see that although it may not directly be the government forcing abortion, countless women do not go into a clinic because they want an abortion but because of the coercion of others.

Lord, have mercy!
