Reflections on a Post-Abortion Journey
By Dave Andrusko
The blog’s headline is “Postabortion journey, walk with me: A story of hope and healing after abortion.” You can read these poignant, heart-wrenching observations at http://postabortionwalk.blogspot.com.
I would like to make just two observations, besides encouraging you to read the longings and candor of a woman who tells us that “At the tender age of 17 I walked across this bridge, alone, into Downtown Pittsburgh, with $300 in my pocket that my mother had given me to get an abortion.”
Over the years I have read many, many accounts from women reflecting back on a decision they would give anything to take back. As you read them grapple with two realities—the honest conviction that God has forgiven them and their own inability to accept that forgiveness—your heart goes out to them. It’s like they tip toe right up to full acceptance of that forgiveness but retreat, at some level unable to believe that they can forgiven—or, perhaps more accurately to their way of thinking should be forgiven.
