Yesterday I spent the day out on Staten Island. It was heart
wrenching to see the destruction. Homes destroyed and people left with nothing,
not to even mention the loss of life which continues to grow.
It truly is a Calvary. Great suffering and great need.
In the midst of the suffering, it was wonderful to see so
many people out there helping. Going to the cross, bringing donations and
getting down and dirty to help in the cleanup. Those people were surely
standing at the foot of the cross trying to ease the pain, trying to love those
impacted to go on. Trying to be the face of Christ.
This morning in the Wall Street Journal near an article on
Staten Islands devastation, I noticed there were a number of advertisements for
abortion clinics. It struck me more than usual as I thought of how their
solution is to have those who may have been pregnant kill their unborn children,
not bringing new life, but adding more
death and destruction to their world.
I thank God that we know that the death and destruction of
Calvary is not the end of the story. That ours is a hope that leads to the
resurrection , and I pray all those impacted can see that in the faces of those
who are truly helping while they go through is disaster.
Thank you God for the blessing of faith and for our trust in
YOU!
