Security, security, security, we all seek it. In our jobs, our relationships, everywhere. We want to cling to what we believe is safe. Somehow it just makes us breathe a little easier, yet the only place true security resides is in the love of God.

When our illusions of security are threatened (as they often are in life) and we are called to walk out onto the water it can be frightening. Like Peter we most often begin to sink not being able to trust in God as we should. There is a wonderful book by Fr Benedict Groeschel that speaks of these things, it is called "Arise from Darkness".
