Research
Project Director Seeks Women Who Had or Considered
Abortion

One
of the great needs of pregnancy centers is quality academic research into why
women chose abortion and what support systems and options counseling can most
effectively empower women to choose life. Well-known researcher, Dr.
Priscilla Coleman is engaged in a study which will help us better understand the
motivations and attitudes of women who considered or chose abortion – and she
needs YOUR help.

She currently has 915  completed
surveys from cities across the nation. However she really needs to get
the number up to 1000 by May 10th in order to use the data in her expert report
for House Bill 1217 in South Dakota. Data collection will continue after that
until the end of the year.

About the study:

Dr. Coleman's
previous research into the mental health effects of abortion on women continues
with the current study. This research project will document the feelings and
thoughts of women at the time they were making the decision to abort and their
feelings and thoughts as they evaluate the outcome of their choice. Read more:

How
to help:

Complete the survey
yourself.

Publicize the surveys. Dr. Coleman
has created two surveys: one for women who seriously considered abortion (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NRSWMHWAC) but chose life, and one
for women who have had at least one abortion (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NRSAWMH).  Please
consider asking women you know who fit, or may fit, these categories to consider
completing one of these surveys. Consider distributing the attached flyers
to:

*   Center staff and
volunteers
*   Current or former clients
*   Women who have completed your
after abortion care program

What to communicate: As you
invite women to participate in the surveys, please take a moment to communicate
a few key points:

*   The surveys are
completely anonymous. No personal information will be collected and no follow up
contact will be initiated.

*   Each online survey may
take approximately an hour to complete.

Here are two fliers that you can
print and distribute:

Thank you for your help!
