Letter: Delete abortion from equality bill

Try as he might, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's new bill is nothing more than a bullying technique to promote abortion under the guise of women's equality.

While
the Women's Equality Act has much good in regard to fair pay, domestic
violence and human trafficking, the insertion of his extreme
pro-abortion agenda has nothing to do with women's equality and makes
abortion untouchable in the state. The bill fails to define who can and
cannot perform an abortion, opening the door, in my view, to
non-physicians being permitted to perform this procedure. Doctors know
how dangerous late-term abortions are and do not want to do them.

Gov.
Cuomo's obvious ignorance of the real harm abortion does to countless
women is more than evident by his biased statements. Instead of
promoting abortion, he should be putting bills in place that truly
protect women by informing them of the dangers of abortion and
safeguarding them from coercion and poor conditions.
