Ok, so I tried to get this in the Albany Times Union and even The New York Post but, it was not printed. No surprise there!
Just Who is the Extremist?
If Governor Cuomo thinks that making abortion legal for all nine months, for any reason is something to be proud of, perhaps he is the one who needs to leave the state of New York.
On “The Capitol Pressroom” Friday morning, with Susan Arbetter, Cuomo said: “Republican Party candidates are running against the SAFE Act. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the State of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”
I beg to differ with Governor Cuomo. The abortion expansion act the Governor is pushing is anything but safe for women securing abortion with no limitations or regulations. This quest for expansion by pro abortion groups and their political allies like Cuomo would make abortion untouchable and allow for non-physicians to perform abortions through all nine months of pregnancy. How is that in the health interest of women? These people who claim abortion should be “safe, legal and rare," have now moved to "anytime, for any reason, with no exceptions." Just who exactly is the extremist here?
It is no secret that countless numbers of women have been injured and even died due to "safe, legal" abortion. One look at a clinic like Gosnell's or the record of abortionists like Steven Bringham, James Pendergraft, or in Maryland, Iris Dominy, Michael Basco, and Mansour
Panah, where all three lost their license, shows that abortion in many cases is anything but safe. How about the recent arrest of abortionist Ulrich Georg Klopfer in Indiana, for failing to report the rape of a 13 year old girl ? What woman would want that? Yet, Cuomo wants abortion unregulated and unmonitored in spite of incidents like these.
Perhaps this coming Wednesday, January 22nd, Cuomo should take a trip to Washington, DC, while tens of thousands of people March on Washington to commemorate the 1973 Supreme Court decision of Roe vs. Wade which, far from rare, has seen over 54 million unborn children die from abortion. I can guarantee, Governor Cuomo; that thousands of those marching will be from the State of New York while countless other New Yorkers will partake in prolife events in their own towns.
“I’m going to do what I believe is right for them,” the Governor said, “ I’m going to make the decision that I’m proud of." Sorry Governor, but killing unborn children in the womb for all nine months without regulations is not something to be proud of, nor is it right for the women of New York. I know because I am one of them as are the hundreds of women I see every year for post abortion counseling, and that is exactly why we DO belong in the State of New York.
