The Readings
Joel 2:12-18; Psalm 51: 3-4, 5-6ab, 12-13, 14&17; 2 Cor. 5: 20 – 6:2; Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18
We implore you on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God.
For our sake he made him to be sin who did not know sin,
so that we might become the righteousness of God in him.
Working together, then,
we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
For he says:
In an acceptable time I heard you,
and on the day of salvation I helped you.
Behold, now is a very acceptable time;
behold, now is the day of salvation.
There is a tendency for those seeking healing from abortion to want it NOW. Many become involved in different things in a quest to make up for their abortion. They run here and there, certain they can do things that would be pleasing to God, as if then He will hear their plea for healing. They base their healing on how they "feel" not on what is truth.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with doing good works, but to think somehow those works will make up for abortion is not true. Even so, this is not a cause for alarm because our healing is in fact in the NOW.
God has already heard and redeemed us. Our healing is right here, right now in the present time, in trusting in His love. Jesus laid down His life for us for the forgiveness of sins, even the sin of abortion.
We do not have to run here or there, or do this or that, we have to surrender and be still in Him… for : "Now is the day of salvation."
