Forgiveness

"God, John Paul observed, would forgive everything that could be forgiven. Some things even God could not forgive. What are these? On those men who refused to be forgiven—who reject mercy—God cannot impose His will." Pope Francis

As part of the Entering Canaans Hoping and Healing Retreat weekend, one of the talks is "Forgiving Yourself as a Child of God."  Many women and men get stuck on not being able to show themselves the mercy of God in spite of the fact that they may have already particpated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The stinkin' thinkin' of post abortion seems to grab hold of them continuing to remind them what a terrible sinner they are and keeping them far from God's peace. As is said in the quote above "God cannot impose His will" even though His desire is their healing.

Healing is a crucifixion, a dying to self. A trusting in Him more than ourselves.

It is different for all of us according to our needs.

Healing comes in accepting and trusting where He has you right now.

His will for us, not where we want to be or think we should be.

St. Alfonse said, “The greatest glory you can give to God is to do His will."

Healing is in His time, not ours.

He is working right here, right now.

The next time that voice tells you you are not forgiven, claim His mercy which is always there for a contrite heart.

Pope Francis, in his Exhortation on Mercy to Roman Priests, on March 6, 2014, said, “I am sure of this. It is not only Lent; we have been living in a time of mercy for the past thirty years or more, up to today.”  Read the rest of his beautiful message on mercy here
