Trusting the Good Shepherd

“After all, the Good Shepherd is waiting for you. So, then, why do you linger and detain yourself? It does not matter and is not important that the others may go ahead of you, that they may be already near the Shepherd. It does not matter that from a human point of view, there may be no hope that someday you may be near Him. Do not allow yourself to be guided too much by your own reason. You must begin to allow yourself to be guided by God’s logic. Only He knows the value of the “limping steps” of the sheep that drags itself along." – In the Arms of Mary

We're stubborn people. We want healing when we want it and we want it our way and now! You would think after having had an abortion, we would know better than to trust in ourselves, but being the human beings we are, we do!

I love the story of the Good Shepherd. I will never forget the time Father Mariusz told us why the sheep was around the neck of Jesus. If a sheep strayed, the shepherd would go to find it and would actually break its leg and carry it so that it would not run away and get lost again. Sometimes, I think it would be great if Jesus did that with us as well, not allowing us to run into danger, but unlike the sheep, we have free will and Jesus never forces us to follow Him.

So, if we feel like we are "limping" to healing, let us trust that if we are following the "logic" of Jesus we are progressing in a time, and that by this very trusting we are making progress if we are seeking healing. He knows what each of us needs to be healed deeply of our personal wounds. Let us freely jump on His shoulder, where He will surely carry us to our children and eternal life.
