"The promise of God is to be with us through all of life's transitions. God will never leave you or forsake you. May you find comfort in God's constant love. Know that my prayers are with you at this time."

It's been a while since I have visited the Exhale site where they are still making their best efforts to take the stigma of abortion away. The quote above is one of the saying you can chose at "Exhale Pro Voice" for your selection of E-Cards to send to someone who has just had an abortion. Here are the other "selections" to go with the peaceful photos of nature they hSample-ecard1ave chosen to be on the front of the cards.

Too bad the reality of abortion is anything but peaceful! Here are some other sayings you can chose from:

  • Healing is possible. May you find peace after your abortion.
  • If you ever need to talk freely about your experience, support and respect are just a phone call away. You can call Exhale.
  • I think you are strong, smart, thoughtful and caring. I believe in you and your ability to make the best decision. I think you did your best.

I wrote about these E-Cards years ago in one of Lumina's newsletters. They are really quite clever and the sayings are true, just not in the context that they are used. They are deceiving and manipulative and I dare to say damaging for the women they claim to help, those who are suffering from an abortion.

"The promise of God is to be with us through all of life's transitions. God will never leave you or forsake you. May you find comfort in God's constant love. Know that my prayers are with you at this time."
God certainly is with us through all of life's transitions. He will never leave us or forsake us. That does not mean, however, that there are not consequences from decisions we make, decisions that are harmful, and in this case, a decision that takes the life of an unborn child, our unborn child.

Yes, God will be with you, but you need to be with Him as well if you hope for healing. To continue to justify and rationalise your decision will not bring you the peace you desire if you are suffering. It may work for a while, but not in the long term. Just ask the women in their 60's, 70's, and 80's who come to us!

I find it sad that for something that they proclaim is so right they also feel the need to continue to justify it and want everyone else to do the same thing. If it were so right they would not care what anyone's thoughts are about it.

The tides are turning and I believe they are losing this battle in the public – not because of pro lifers, but because everyone knows someone who is suffering. These people are not hurting because of the views of others, they are suffering because they participated in the deaths of their unborn children and they deserve to be heard and healed, not manipulated to fit an agenda.

All the E-Cards in the world will not take take away the truth of abortion or the stigma around it and that is a good thing!
