Reclaiming Our Children: A Blog About Healing After Abortion

I received an email from  facebook friend  Beatrice Fedor the other day. She had seen the new book put out by Katha Pollitt, "Pro-Reclaiming Abortio".

She knew that was the name of my blog and that the lay association of "Entering Canaan". The contrast struck her and she had made a graphic. She wanted to know if I was ok with it.

I have to admit October is a busy month and with speaking, prayer services and all the other craziness  I did not have much time to think about it at the time. I knew I was fine with her using our logo, but I did not give the whole thing much thought, even though I had submitted an article soon to be published on about Politts book d.

Now that I have a few things done, I too began to think about the contrast.

As I mentioned, Reclaiming Our Children, or ROC, was formed and incorporated in 2001 as the lay apostolate of the “Entering Canaan” ministry. It is currently in the process of receiving it 501C3 status.

Here is our Mission statement:

“We as the mothers and fathers of aborted children, do dedicate ourselves to Reclaiming Our children. We are a voice to the truth for our children and for the millions of women and men still suffering the pain of abortion in silence.”

There is a stark contrast to the two…Katha and others like her are supporting death. They are , as much as they may not want to admit it, promoting and embracing the death of their children as they "reclaim" what they see as a threat to abortion..which is death.

We at ROC are reclaiming live. Not physical life but the spiritual life of our children and ourselves.

Perhaps what I find the saddest is that she actually believes in what she is doing…she feels a great need to embrace this "death" so somehow she can live.
