Here in the Advent season I have been thinking of how I am not good at "awaiting". Come to think of it, I often struggle with acceptance as well, especially if I perceive something as unjust or "wrong" in some way. Put the two  together and you can really miss out on a lot in your life when it comes to the present.

Msg_PresenceOfGod

The "letting go" of life is a tough thing, and yet it is the thing that really allows us to live our life fully in the present, each moment, each experience, each person. Sadly we all too often try to change what is not in our power to change. We lack the trust to know that no matter what is going on, God has allowed it for some reason. we fail to give thanks for ALL.

In the case of abortion most of us gave up our children to serve ourselves in some way.Either our lifestyle, our presumed way out of a situation, or even to please someone else. The reasons can go on and on. While we need to work through the issue to understand why it happened and what we need to change, we can get caught up in living the past, or wanting perhaps future healing NOW. In spite of our pain we still are not ready to TRUST in God with our lives knowing He is working even if we cannot see it.

There is a great little book "Practicing the Presence of God" by Brother Lawrence. If you have not read it get it. For it is only in living in His presence and trusting in His will for us that we truly find His peace .
