So, anyone who knows me knows that the Divine Mercy Devotion played a huge part in my healing almost 30 years ago(in fact the USCCB named my witness "Divine Mercy in My Soul"…but that is another story!). At that time it was not a very popular devotion.
I was so happy to hear World Youth Day is going to be in Poland, the country of Divine Mercy and Our Lady of Czestochowa our patroness. Over ten years ago, Fr Mariusz Koch, CFR and I led a pilgrimage of women who had experienced abortion to the Shrines of both Divine Mercy & OLC.
It was an amazing experience!
Then I heard this is the official song for World Youth Day…I get chills and tears just thinking of it.
Thank you Lord for Your mercy which knows no end…Your unfailing goodness towards us no matter what our sins. We love You!
here it is:
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy"
the official hymn of XXXI World Youth Day Krakow 2016
Here is a translation of lyrics by Kamila Trajnerowicz (thank you!)although we are told it is not exact…beautiful!
1. I lift up my eyes unto the hills,
from where my help shall come.
Help from the Lord, a merciful God
that He is!
2. When we get lost, He seeks us
And takes us into His arms
Heals our wounds with the Blood He shed
And gives us new life.
R: Blessed are the merciful
For they will receive mercy!
3. Had the Lord kept a record of sins,
Who could even stand?
But he forgives, so let us too
Follow our God!
4. The Lord has erased all the debt with the Son’s blood,
The Son has risen from the grave;
“Jesus is the Lord” cries the Spirit within.
Let the world see that!
[BRIDGE]
So cast away your fears, have faith
Put your burden at His feet
And trust, as He has risen
He lives – the Lord, your God!
Jesus we trust in You!
