To be or not to be?

That is the question that plagues countless numbers of women and men upon learning of a sibling that has been aborted. Sib5

Why were they allowed to be alive while their sibling was not?

There are so many dynamics surrounding this heartache, depending on the circumstances, that it is difficult to even begin to sort through them all.

So many questions, and concerns;so much confusion.

While the testimonies of women and men regarding abortion continue to grow, the sibling issue is just beginning to  surface. Like the mothers and fathers who have gone before them, there seems to be a silent implication that they need not  let their feelings be known or that they are the only siblings feelings this way.

Over the past seven years, with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, we have been conducting Entering Canaan retreats  for sibling of aborted babies. By having their own retreats these siblings are free to share their experiences with one another knowing their parents will not be judged and without the fear of hurting them even more.

As one sibling wrote : “I am feeling extremely emotional and sad about the subject of siblings (I am an only child), and at the same time, I feel so stupid for missing someone who never was. ..I wonder what does it feel like, the love of an older brother. But you helped me greatly, I feel less stupid for missing him now.”

The next sibling weekend will be held from September 23-25th in Trumball CT, and will be directed by Fr Fidelis Moscinski, CFR

Grants are available to assist those who would like to attend.
