So, I would be lying if I did not admit I have been a little stressed lately. There is always so much to do during this Advent/Christmas season. It seems that the more I get done, the more I recognize things that need to be done! Not easy to be present in the stillness and wonder of Advent.
And so, I totally enjoyed the Advent/Christmas Concert by St. Joseph's Seminary Schola Cantorum last night, which brought me into the present moment and I am sure lowered my blood pressure considerably!
It is hard to stay still in the anticipation of Advent. I can even find all the novenas everyone is proposing you do can also just be another pressure. Not that it is not good to do those things of course, but they can become a chore to some, or instill guilt if you are unable to do them. One simple prayer or a lifting of the heart in purity is all it takes.
In the still of our hearts we can find the greatest prayer. The moments we take each day to bask in His presence and look to His coming with glorious anticipation. This Christ, this manifestation of Mercy Himself, who comes to call sinners to reconcile them with with Himself and bestow His forgiveness, joy and peace, even for the sin of abortion.
Last night was good for my soul and a reminder, that all that really matters is what took place in that manger so very long ago and what takes place in our hearts each and every day.
