"By building a human system of security, you will hinder your growth in faith. Your faith will deepen only when you allow God to be your only support and your only security."

(The Gift of Faith, Third Edition, pg.34)

I-am-God

It is hard to admit, to accept, and to be okay with the fact that we are all sinners in need of God's mercy. So many times we are hurt and disappointed by people who we thought were there for us, forgetting that they too have their weaknesses, and although they may care for us and love us, are not always able to give us what we need.

The only one who can fulfill all of our needs is God. Still, it is often very difficult to depend on Him alone. We like human companionship.  We yearn for the comfort of those close to us and for human understanding.  After all, we cannot see God, and many times we are not even able to feel His presence. Yet, in truth, He is the only one that is there for us – without fail – and able to heal us. In the stillness of our hearts, He is always present.

When people let us down and when we are tempted to allow the hurt and disappointment to linger, let us always remember the One who never disappoints, who is working even when we cannot feel Him, who loves us with an everlasting love and is always seeking our good.

In this new year, as you journey towards healing, let us entrust ourselves to Him, making Him our support and security, knowing He died for our sins in order that we may live in Him! Let us be still and know that He is God!
