His Mercy Endures Forever

" But now we must celebrate and rejoice,
because your brother was dead and has come to life again;
he was lost and has been found"

Prodigal son

The Prodigal son is one of my favorite scriptures. I love the humanness of all the characters Jesus speaks of, and how God speaks to His love for each one of them wherever they may be on their journey to Him.

I also can personally relate to each one of them. Perhaps, that was His intention, because we all may have a little of each of them in us.

Most obvious, of course, in regards to my abortion is the son who took his wealth and went off and squandered it all in crazy living. He returns home only after he has realized that pigs have a better life then he does and all his high living brought him to naught.

Of course, the most wonderful part is that his father not only accepts him back, but runs out to greet him, kills the fatted calf, and celebrates the return of his lost son. He does not sit him down and throw everything up in to his face.  He does not scold him or shame him.  He embraces him and calls for a celebration of his return to the fold, much like God does when we return to Him after abortion.

If you are new to healing and still worry about the reception of God to your returning to Him after abortion, read the story of the Prodigal Son and talk to someone who has gone before you back into the fold after an abortion.

As the Lenten season approaches it is a wonderful time to come back to His mercy. I can assure you, it endures forever….
