A Pro Life Hero

People have different ideas of pro life heroes. Certainly, there are many prominent wonderful people in some amazing organizations in the pro life movement, but for me the heroes tend to be the quiet humble souls doing the will of God each day, sacrificing and being faithful to the cause with no regard for themselves.

Alan

Last Friday night we lost one of those heroes, Alan Mehldau.

Alan worked tirelessly for the cause of life, opening the Life Center at St Mary's parish in Katonah, where he worked to educate and activate people to protect life in all of its stages.

He also Chaired the Northern Westchester and Putnam Vicariate Respect Life Committee, St. Mary's Respect Life Society and served on the board of the NY State Right to Life Committee.

Alan also knew the importance of offering healing to those who had participated in abortion and was a great supporter of the work of Lumina and Entering Canaan, offering Christ's love and compassion to those who had made the decision to abort.

With all he did, that was not who Alan was. As he preached dignity and respect for life he lived it and showed it to all who came in contact with him. His wonderful sense of humor and love of God drew many to him.

Alan will be greatly missed, but I know he is still working with us in a place much better, with the unborn and his beloved wife Pam right beside him.

Rest in peace Alan….it was a great gift to have known you in this life…look forward to seeing you again in the next.
