Everyone knows the story of the frog who is boiled to death. If he is placed in hot water, he immediately will jump out to safety, but if he is placed in cold water which is slowly heated, he fails to sense the danger and so in the end, is boiled alive.
I have often thought of this when looking at the issue of abortion in our society. Women never saw the danger coming. It's premise for legalization was based on the lie of Roe vs Wade.
Norma McCorvey, the Roe of Roe vs Wade, was 21 when she became pregnant and made up a story about being raped. Used by lawyers who wanted to change abortion laws , the case went to the Supreme Court and won. All based on lies. McCorvey never actually had an abortion and is now a pro life advocate.
The made up rape was of course, an appeal to compassion, a way to legitimize the act of terminating a pregnancy. Slowly, the protections of life within the womb were boiled away, eroded by more lies and slow rises until we find ourselves where we are today, abortion legal for any reason. at any time, and the overt reasons now in hiding no longer.A supposed women's choice, no apologies, no restrictions. every child a "wanted" child.
We have traveled from the supposed victim to the projected empowerment of women through abortion, but like the frog we have been slowly burning to death.
No longer is the "blob of cells" theory able to hide the truth of the development of a baby in the womb. Science has shown us its formation and when its heart begins to beat, but the lies and deceit of the pro abortion movement continue, playing instead upon the shame and guilt of women by denying their very real experiences, and blaming their negative feelings, guilt, depression, stigma, on anything but the abortion itself, as if there is no reason for the abortion to leave you with anything but positive results.
These people who claim to stand for women's rights are outraged at any attempt at restrictions, even if it is for the safety of women, like regulations at clinics, or women's right to know legislation. They likewise, are eerily silent when it comes to the death of women from their "safe, legal abortion", or the murder of those women refusing to abort by boyfriends and husbands, as was the recent case of Candace Pickens who was murdered, and her toddler shot in the head because she refused to terminate her pregnancy.
Coerced abortion also continues to be denied in spite of evidence that countless women are coerced by others, or socially aborted so that they feel they have no other choice than to end their pregnancy. Women continue to boil slowly, but thank goodness ,some have finally jumped out of the pot and are speaking the truth of abortions harm not only in the death of their children but in the damage and death of countless numbers of women.
When I hear of people like Bill Clinton and many others politicians who have abused others for their own sexual pleasure you cannot help but understand why it is so important for abortion to continue. It has been an easy cover up for inappropriate behavior. Ironically, Hillary Clinton whose husband victimized many women, is trying to make it seem like she has women's backs , but in reality she has been one of the ones slowly turning up the heat. The deceptive concern comes at the price of her own life, ambitions and betrayal and women are paying the price.
For sure the water is getting hotter, and we are in a crucial point for our next election to determine much on the issue of abortion, but it is not too late to jump out of the pot. Women need to seek the truth and educate themselves. There is a disconnect between reality and all of the rhetoric they have been fed over the years, just speak to some college age women who have never been exposed to the truth. They have a hard time even equating abortion is the death of n a unborn child. Thank God, groups like Students for Life and Live Action are out there educating their generation
For sure, abortion has been a slow death of the dignity of women, their innate nature and beautiful ability to bring life into the world, not a dreaded event, but a miracle we are privileged to be a part of. We can reclaim our dignity, our unique gifts and our natural instincts to protect our children. We can trust our own hearts. It is not too late, we just have to jump out of the water. Will you join me?
