Advent is a time of patient waiting. Joyful anticipation!I must admit patience is not my best virtue. Like many of us, when something occurs to me, I want it to happen NOW.
Advent not only calls me to wait, but to empty myself and "joyfully" wait. It tells me Our Savior is coming to save us from our sins. It calls me to trust in this promise and to rejoice in this truth.
I can chose not to wait. To fill myself running around and trying to make my will manifest, but all my attempts at control are really an illusion that can collapse in a second. Or, I can patiently wait on the One who loves me infinitely. To trust in His word knowing He is the only thing that truly saves me.
I can relax and rest in the Glorious Expectation of Advent knowing the birth of Mercy Himself is just around the corner. Mercy who comes to save us from our sins.
That's worth waiting for!
