In the Cross is Salvation

Jesus_crucifixion_by_binusianwolf-d8o7kexI love the cross. I hate the cross. My spiritual side embraces it, my human side wants to throw it as far away from me as I can, but the truth is, we all get the cross whether we want it or not..
In the midst of deep suffering it is hard to remember that this is what brings us “salvation”. We get tossed around feeling like we are clinging to sanity. We often feel we are losing ourselves. The cross is something our human nature fights against, but our soul embraces. We find ourselves trying to will our trust in God in spite of how we feel. We are suddenly living our faith.
A faith of paradoxes where nothing is as it seems and our answers are found in the e places we humanly do not want to go. It is painful, often threatening and a fearful place to be, but, we are told “be not afraid”.
It is in this place, at this cross, that we meet the merciful love of crucified Christ.

"The Cross is the most profound bowing down of the Divinity towards man … the Cross is like a touch of eternal love on the most painful wounds of humanity's earthly existence" Pope John Paul II ( Pastoral visit of Hos Holiness Pope Benedict XVI in Poland Encounter with the sick, Krakow, Lagiewniki, May 26,2006)
