I ran into an old friend today that I have not seen in a few years because she had moved away. We actually did a lot of pro life work together back in the day.  It was great seeing her after such a long time.

As we greeted each other she introduced me to a friend  who was with her. "This is Theresa, she is the post abortion face around here." I just replied with, "Not the face you really want to be associated as", and we all laughed. My friend knows I am healed and so it did not have a negative implication for her of where I am at, but instead of the work I do.   Tb

However, the incident got me thinking. Is this how I am seen ? The post abortion face? I immediately thought of grief, sorrow and pain. I know I do not look like that. I feel it is only half of the story and the joy of healing  should follow. Then it hit me…I am not the "post abortive face", I am the face of a miracle of Mercy Himself!

A face once torn apart by guilt and grief of abortion that He has transformed by His forgiveness and His grace. I do not feel guilt, or shame or even grief anymore, I feel the transforming love and mercy of God and I have joy in my life.

So, if you think of me as the "post abortive face" change that language instead to "the face of a miracle of mercy".  A miracle He obtained for  each and every one of us through His suffering, death and resurrection! That is something to be joyful about!
