Never Forget

OIP (2)A lot of people in my neighborhood died on 9/11. I live right outside the city, an easy commute by train into the city. A commute that countless people around here make every day.

I can to this day, clearly remember the eerie silence when trains and planes were stopped after the attack, leaving only the  sound of the helicopters flying overhead .  Everyone remembers where they where and what they were doing that day.

I worked for Perrier at the time and  was actually watching the Twin Towers collapse on a TV in our CEO's office. I was with Linda, his admin. As we watched we had no idea that her brother in law a NYC police officer was entering one of the buildings. John D'Allara, along with  others I knew died that day. John  left behind a wife and 2 young children.  It's hard to imagine that John's children are now in their twenties.

Every day I go to daily mass at Resurrection parish in Rye, NY, another easy commute to NYC . Today there will be families there as there are every year on 9/11, who lost their loved ones on that day.

As we go through this day let us keep all of those who died and their families in prayer..
