OIP (98)It kind of sneaks up on you. You don't think you are being prideful- you feel full of grace. It seems effortless to do what you believe is His will for you. You are grateful for His many gifts to you – and then, WHAM!

A particularly difficult day happens with no sense of His grace and you fall like a stack of cards!

Is it surprising? No. This is what happens to us in our self reliance even though we may have been thinking we were trusting. If we were really trusting we would be thanking Him as much in adversity as in peace.

And so it just went for me as I returned from Medjugorje flled with His grace. Fasting, praying, feeling strong in my resolutions- and there was the problem -pride!

Instead of strength in my resolutions I needed humility. A constant awareness that without His grace I would surely fall.

That all is a gift-nthingearned or deserved.

That I need only to stay out of His way – to do battle against my "self" who thinks she has the answers.

On this Feast of St Faustina may I recognize my continued nothingness and His everything and hide in the rays of His mercy!
