In my Filth Rescue Me

OIP - 2023-10-09T104458.092It's easy to get frustrated and overwhelmed by all the ways my "self" does not live according to Gods plan.

My distractions, my anger or lack of forgiveness, my lack of discipline, I can go on and on.

As I prayed in adoration this morning fighting many distractions, I lifted my heart up to Jesus and Mary and said, "I can't do this- I want to though and you want me to, so you have to do it."

I was then I was suddenly overcome with a visual of a little child covered with dirt who runs up to its mother, who despite the filth embraces this child with love.

Two things then came to me…this is love. To be willing to take on the "dirt" of another in order to ease their pain and convert them. The ultimate act of love- no self- just to love-such a special bond of child and parent.

The second thought of course was this failure in love of those of us who have had an abortion, the attack on this very fabric of life -something we have always cherished, this special bond that no one can take away, but abortion has taken it away, has infiltrated slowly into our society until many have no remorse for this ultimate failure of love.

Thank you Jesus and Mary for loving me in my filth, for embracing me no matter how dirty, so that I can know your love, the only true love and be a sign of that for others.  May we embrace people in their "dirt", as we have been embraced, and be the face of Jesus and Mary to them in order to bring them back to true love.
