When we are deeply hurt it is hard to keep loving, we can get to the place where we feel “done”. That our tolerance has reached its limit. That one more rock will put us over the edge.
Today in prayer I was wondering if Mary ever felt “done”. If she was tempted to rebel against Gods will feeling like it was just too much. That she reached the end of her rope.
We know of course that she even if she felt done, she never was. With Jesus at the foot of the cross she in her unbearable sorrow echoed the words of her Son. “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”
It seems incomprehensible – forgiveness and mercy for such a horrific act on an innocent human being, and yet she knew this was the reason He came to earth, to die for our sins which He took upon Himself
It’s hard not to feel “done” at times. In fact it’s impossible without the grace of God. It is only through His Grace that we can continue pushing our boundaries of love- refusing to allow sin to take hold and conquering it through love
I have a long way to go. When I’m deeply hurt I want to be done. Sometimes this means taking a break and resting with Them in prayer. Sometimes it means speaking up for myself in love to those who have hurt me or at times stepping away from the situation for a while, but it always means forgiving and showing the mercy shown to me.
May we each implore the aide of Mary who continues to point out the way of mercy and love. May we know she is always beside us comforting us in our wounds and leading us always to her Son.
She’s not “done” with us yet.
